Shenanigans

What a fun and busy week for the Murrays! Work hard, play hard...and that's just what we did. Drew ordered the first season of "Breaking Bad," so we decided that it would be fun to have "dinner and a show" nights with the Sayers. They came over on Thursday to eat chili and watch the first episode and it was so fun that we decided to have round two this weekend. If you haven't seen this show before, you should check it out!
The following pictures were taken Friday. Dr. Drewlittle, as Drew likes to call himself, watched our dogs along with Amanda's dog (Wallie ) and Haley's dog (Tilly). It was a true doggy daycare over here.

Friday night was Date Night! We went to the Alamo Drafthouse Ritz, which is the downtown theatre where you can order food and drinks during the show. It is right on 6th street, so we were able to walk there, which was great because the weather was perfect. It is finally getting "chilly" here and I am loving it.

We saw the new movie "The Rum Diary" and it was great! I love me some Johnny Depp. Here is a summary: "Paul Kemp is a freelance journalist who finds himself at a critical turning point in his life while writing for a run-down newspaper in the Caribbean. Paul is challenged on many levels as he tries to carve out a more secure niche for himself amidst a group of lost souls all bent on self-destruction." (Written by Joshua Lake)
Saturday we cheered on the Dawgs as they played the Florida Gators. A victory at last! The final score was 24-20. We were proud of our Bulldogs! That night we celebrated by going to a Halloween party. The Evite read "Halloween Bash! K-9's, Kegs, Costumes and Comida at the McMurray's." They made pulled pork tacos, cheese dip, and a whole spread of desserts. Drew and I dressed up as Waldo & Wenda, so all night people were saying "Where's Waldo? I can't find him anywhere." It was a joke that never got old. Here are some pictures from the evening (shout out to Meghan Sayers for being an amazing photographer):

Then the night got interesting....you're never too old to do kegstands, although my headache this morning may suggest otherwise.

And I leave you with this quote, which suited us well this week:

We seem to be going through a period of nostalgia, and everyone seems to think yesterday was better than today.  I don't think it was, and I would advise you not to wait ten years before admitting today was great.  If you're hung up on nostalgia, pretend today is yesterday and just go out and have one hell of a time.  ~Art Buchwald

Carpe Diem!

I have always wanted to start a blog, but never took the time to begin. Because I am starting late in the game, I decided that I would make my first post a quick re-cap of how Drew and I met, dated, married, and eventually moved to Austin. Perhaps a little ambitious for the first posting, but I am up for the challenge! And it begins....

Athens, GA 2005-2006- Drew and I met our Junior year at UGA, but did not start dating until September of our Senior year. I will never forget when Lane Matthews told me that she wanted me to meet Drew, whom she shared a Marketing class with. She told me that were were so much alike, so I would either love him, or hate him. Well, love it was! We went to a couple Georgia games together and then we went to Austin City Limits, a music festival in Texas. Who knew that in five years from that weekend we would be married and back in Austin?!

Charlotte, NC 2006-2007- After graduating from UGA, I moved to Charlotte, NC where Drew and I dated long distance for a year. Charlotte is such a wonderful city and I learned so much from my first year being on my own. I worked at Mint Hill Middle School and taught 6th grade English. It was a tough year, but a great experience. Ever heard the phrase "distance makes the heart grow fonder"? Well, perhaps that is true, but I found that long distance was not for me, so I moved to Atlanta to be closer to friends, family and Drew.
Atlanta, GA 2007-2010- Moving to Atlanta was a great decision. I was able to see my family more often and I had so many friends from both highschool and college who lived there. I worked at Sandy Springs Charter Middle School as a 6th grade English teacher and earned my Masters in Reading and Literacy during this time. We have so many fun memories from our years in Atlanta and I am so thankful for the experiences we had while living there!

Chattanooga, TN 2009- Drew made the mistake of telling me on New Year's Eve of 2008 that he was going to propose sometime in 2009. After a year of making sure my nails were polished and ready for the big moment, the time finally came on Saturday, December 19th. We were driving home for the holidays and I was going to spend some time in Chattanooga before continuing on to Nashville. Drew knows about my obsession for Christmas, so he took me in the car for an evening of looking at Christmas lights. Eventually, he stopped on the edge of a cliff where the hanggliders jump and asked me to walk out on the viewing deck to see the lights below. It was pitch black, spitting snow and I was freezing. As I turned to head back towards the car, Drew got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. The moment was surreal and one I will never foget. We got back in the car to drive to Canyon Grill where we would surprise his parents with the news. As we entered the restuarant, I looked left and saw my dad. Drew had invited my parents, my sister, the Cardens, and all of his family to celebrate the big occassion. What a fun way to begin the rest of our lives!

Nashville, TN June 26, 2010- We got Murray'ed! After a short 6 month engagement, Drew and I tied the knot in Nashville, Tennessee. The weekend was full of love and we were so thankful for everybody who came to support us and for those who sent their best wishes. We had a blast!

St. Lucia 2010- After an amazing wedding weekend, we left for St. Lucia for our Honeymoon. The celebration continued as we took full advantage of the all inclusive package at the Sandals Resort. The food, drinks and people were amazing and we had quite the week. A couple highlights from the vacation: I was able to scuba dive for the first time (I was so proud when I spotted two lobsters, haha),we hiked up a mountain to an old fort with another couple we met, went on a sunset sailboat ride, and had a private dinner on the beach.

Austin, TX 2010-2011- Once the honeymoon was over, we packed up our belongings and headed to Austin. Thankfully my mom and Drew's dad were able to help us drive cars and keep us company. It was a long trip, but we made it!
All packed up and ready to move!
